Wood and its processing wastes are used as a raw material for producing a semifinished wood pulps (WPs).
Wood processing equipment  enables to produce  semi-finished wood pulp product (WPs) from  wood raw materials directly at the place of its location in timber industry, provided there is electricity and water supplies for industrial use (industrial water recycling). Production of semi-finished wood pulps (WPs) is waste-free and environmentally safe.
Wood Processing Products
    Pulp semifinished product is called pulp stock obtained by mechanical separation of wood into fibers. Wood pulp is one of the most economical semifinished products, since its wood fiber production yield reaches 95%. The production excludes wood cooking, preparation and regeneration of semifinished products, which considerably reduces environmental pollution. The pulp stock is in the composition of the vast majority ofpaper and paperboard products of wood processing and is a major component used in the manufacture of wood products for wood-based panels (MDF, fiberboard, gypsum- and cement-fiber boards), blocks, panels, thermal insulation materials and building mixes.
Wood Processing into Chips
   Currently there are two methods of pulp production: groundwood pulping and refining. While using the first method the pulp stock is produced by grinding pulp wood by the abrasive surface in the grinder; while using the second one pulp stock is produced from wood chips by grinding it in a disk mill and it is called refiner groundwood pulp.
The method for pulp production from wood chips by grinding it in a disk mill is widely used. The preference for this method of wood pulp manufacture is due to the possibility of a better use of raw materials from all timber species involving in the production of:
- Processing of low-grade wood,
- Processing of wood waste, firewood, sawmills waste, logging.
      The  experience of using grinding equipment (refining) of the  manufacturers, such as Andritz and Metso Paper, reduces mainly the cost of transporting raw materials (wood chips) 3 times by bringing the production of wood pulp to the location of the  sawmilling facility. At the same time, the cost of wood pulp is reduced to a level of  paper waste that allows for separate highly profitable businesses with a capacity of 75-100 tons/day. Other advantages of this equipment are: high yield of wood fiber - 85-96%; involvement in the processing of more timber species: aspen, birch and pine; high quality fiber material promotes  to produce paper and cardboard.
However, the high specific electric energy consumption (drive disk mills power is up to 28-32 MW) significantly limits the geographical organization of pulp mechanical production.
Wood Processing Technology
    The proposed process equipment for wood processing  has the following features:
- the specific energy consumption for producing  wood pulp from wood chips does not exceed 0.5-0.8 MW ? h / t, which makes it possible to organize  wood processing directly at the location of raw materials (timber industry, woodworking plants, etc.);
- modular and portable designs of technological equipment for wood processing, including:  flakers, bark-peeling machine (if necessary). This extends the capability of raw wood processing and significantly reduces transportation costs;
- a wide range of pulp stock applications due to its technical characteristics (Table 1)  allows the use of semi-finished wood pulps in the production of paper, cardboard, wood-based panels (MDF, chipboard), gypsum- and cement-fiber boards, insulation materials, building mixes, etc.

The Flow Sheet of semi-finished wood pulps (WPs) production in wood processing is carried out in two stages:
- Pre-grinding to a size of 15-20 mm by flakers;
- Chips deflaking to make fibers in water.
 For fibers containing no bark the timber prior to processing into chips, wood is treated on debarking machines.
Sawdust and small chips are processed into fiber separately, without grinding. The resulting wet pulp is dewatered by briquetting without drying, or dried to a dry bulk density, depending on the delivery requirements. When delivered to the place of wood processing, prefabricated briquettes are treated on the existing equipment.
The complex technological equipment for processing wood for the production of semi-finished wood pulps (WPs), in addition to wood pulp dispersion, includes: flakers, conveyers, piping and valves, debarking machines, a baling press, a dryer. The above equipment is manufactured commercially in Russia and abroad. The operation of this equipment for wood processing does not require highly skilled personnel or capital construction – the equipment may be located at sites that are protected from the weather, in containers or in the framed facilities, with circulating water and electricity supplies. The required area for the installation of timber dispergators of up to 1.0 m3 throughput is about 800 m2, with recycling water supply of at least 10 m3/ h and electricity power to 260 kW.
